Is Age Really Just A Number?

When it comes to dating, sex, and relationships how important is the age factor? Of course there are certain no no's such as a 13yo with a 30yo, whether the minor is male or female it's just wrong and a FELONY. But in legal situations when is the age difference just too great if there even is a limit? I'll attack this from a couple different angles.

First lets start off with the double standard. It's typically acceptable for a woman to date an older man but no so much so when the male is younger then the female is older. Suddenly the woman is looked at as a cradle robber even if the age difference is a mere 2 years. Of course as we get older a 2yr difference becomes less significant, and women are considered cradle robbers when the difference is more like 7yrs or so... I think this double standard goes back to the thought that females develop mentally 2 yrs ahead of men. Which is why women date older men to be with someone who is on their level. Other females or looking for daddy figures which is something i'll cover in a future post and also sugar daddy's look out for those...

Ok now forgetting the gender issue when do you consider the age difference to be too big? When we're 5, 10, 15, or even 20 years apart? Sometimes people find genuine happiness with someone wayyy older then them and I won't knock it. Then there are others who use their younger companions as trophy pieces and as a way to make themselves feel younger and well that I won't support.

Well whatever the situation who am I to cast judgement. I've dated younger men and older men and neither worked so to each his own. Whatever makes you happy go for it...

How to Mend a Broken Heart...

Ahhh a broken heart everyone's had one and if haven't experienced it yet, chances are you will. Common symptoms: can't eat or sleep, always crying and sulking, don't wanna do anything not even wash ur ass... lol sound familiar??? Yea we all been there, and the age old question is how do you get over this person. Each person has their own coping mechanism. Some people just jump back out there and start meeting new people. Although that might help you momentarily forget about your old flame that doesn't solve the problem. You're still fragile and vulnerable, which leaves you open to be taken advantage of, and you might end up doing something you'll regret. You're basically trying to fill a void that can't be so easily filled. I'm no expert but I strongly guarentee cutting that person off completely. Deleting all phone numbers, sn's, myspace, facebook, EVERYTHING. It might seem really hard but it's something you gotta do ever heard of outta sight outta mind trust it works. This doesn't have to be permanent but you can't get over someone if they're constantly around. Time is the only REAL cure for a broken heart. How long varies from person to person and different situations but seriously there's no quick fix you just have to let time heal all wounds.

Valentine's Day...

Yea so yesterday was Valentines Day and I spent it watching the NBA all star festivities (I know kinda sad...) Not to sound cynical but what is Valentine's Day??? Is it really a holiday to celebrate love or was it created as a cash cow? Think about it, greeting card companies, jewelry stores, restaurants etc. all pump Valentines Day into every ones mind not to celebrate love but to make serious cash. So we as consumers go out and spend obscene amounts of money to celebrate this holiday. It also becomes drilled into our brains that you HAVE to have someone on this day so people go around scrambling for dates so they won't feel depressed and alone. I find it outrageous and sad and although I wasn't thrilled about spending vday alone I turned down many dates cuz what's the point on going out with any ol body just to have a date on vday. You have to wonder to yourself who am I trying to please???

Bisexuality

For some reason it's becoming the hot new trend. Not amongst men but women. It's being broadcasting on tv with shows like "A Shot At Love" with Tila Tequila, and "A Double Shot At Love" both on MTV. The women are looking for love whether it be with a man or woman claiming to have no preference. Everyday women are now hooking up with other women ranging from kissing to full on relationships. Some women just do it for experimental purposes and others are simply fed up with men and find solace in other women. And there are some women who do it to please men. It can be as innocent as making out with another female at a club or engaging in a menage a trois to please their boyfriends or husbands. There are some men out there that consider themselves bisexual but society just see's them as flat out gay. I can't even lie I can't be with a man who's been with another man i'll always think he's gay. For some reason it's just more acceptable for women and considered sexy. But the question still remains; Does bisexuality really exist? Is it really possible for some one to love both sexes? The question seems simple but really think about it....

There's a growing trend amongst married couples; the swinging lifestyle. Swingers are couples who exchange partners and engage in sexual activity. The couples don't consider it cheating since it's done together and there are no emotional attachments. It's about a young down to earth porn star named Moon who has become quite famous. The universal number for women seems to be 3, not that it's the truth it's just what every woman seems to say when asked how many partners she's had (c'mon fellas how many females told u that number???) So what is a friend with benefits? It's basically a friend that you engage in sexual activity with. But the key to this is that there aren't susposed to be any strings attached. Now the other person is left feeling hurt and used and the friendship is destroyed. So you have to think to yourself is a few nights of sexual pleasure worth losing a good friend? Chances are it isn't because good friends are hard to come by. My advice to everyone is not to have a friends with benefits relationship as much as you think you can handle it, I can almost guarentee that it won't turn out well. Things between you and your friend will never be the same...

GET TESTED!!!

There are millions of people affected worldwide by HIV/AIDS epidemic. HIV is transmitted from mother to child, intravenous drug use, and most commonly unprotected sex. When left untreated for many years the virus then becomes AIDS. This epidemic is now hitting close to home mainly the African American community. Although we only account for 12% of the population african americans represent nearly 50% of HIV cases. This is a shocking number that needs to be severly decreased. Why do african americans account for so many cases? The reasons are: proverty and limited healthcare, risky sexual behavior and "downlow brothers", substance abuse, and limited knowledge of the subject. But all this can change with us, seek help if you have a drug addiction, USE CONDOMS not the pullout method that doesn't work people theres something called pre ejaculation...and last but not least GET TESTED, know your status so you can further help and protect others. This is serious people and I hope you don't take my words lightly.

Cuffing Season

Ok so apparently it's "cuffing" season. For those of you unfamiliar with the terminology cuffing means to enter into a monogamous relationship or more simply making that special person your boyfriend or girlfriend.
